Mindset for Blogging Success – The One Trick That Changed Everything For Me

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. - Lao Tzu

Today I want to talk to you about one of the most important aspects – if not THE most important aspect – of success in online business, blogging, being a creator etc. And that is your mindset, limiting beliefs, how to get rid of them and how to change from a passive over thinker into a productive machine that breathes success. I’ll also share my number one trick that changed everything for me, so let’s go!

Why mindset is important for bloggers and online creators

When starting a new project like a blog, YouTube channel or any other project, having the right mindset to go about it is absolutely key. Without the right mindset you’ll likely stop before you can really count your first successes. In order to avoid you stopping it’s helpful to have the right expectations and know what you’re working for.

Success is 20% Strategy and 80% Mindset

All the how to’s and explanations, strategies and tricks that you can read about online will not really help you if you’re not thinking the right thoughts that will take you to success because mindset is literally what it’s all about.

If you don’t work on your mindset before starting a blog you’re not going to have the commitment or the focus to really achieve significant success that you’re striving for.

That’s because you likely have other obligations alongside your new blog like for example your full-time or day job. To juggle everything you need to have the right mindset in place.

Limiting beliefs and wrong expectations

So if you’re starting out as a blogger you might likely have a few limiting beliefs around the topic of money, what it takes to be successful online or wrong expectations regarding the world of making money online.

The problem is that there are so many people out there giving the wrong impression of what it means to start a project online. Literally every TikTok or YouTube video out there suggests that all you need to do it to just „do it“ and you’ll be a millionaire over night.

Let me just break it to you: That’s not true.

Having the right expectations

Making money online is actually not very glamorous, maybe even a little repetitive, sometimes even boring. But that’s actually great! Because it also means that it’s not hard.

To really be profitable online you have to be consistent in putting out content (such as blog posts, YouTube videos or whatever your designated platform is). You actually just have to do a few simple things on a regular basis until they bear fruit. It’s actually quite the same as planting a tree.

growing plants seedlings

You start by sowing your seeds (content) into good soil (your niche), then you keep watering them on a regular basis (create more content around your niche) until you see the first leafs (first sales), then you continue watering (creating content) until the seeds grow into strong, big trees (multiple income streams).

And that’s not glamorous, but it’s well worth it. Because what the videos show is the success the people enjoy AFTER they put in all the work. So if you wrote your first blog post and kinda get bored, just think about the fact that the people now living the good life just didn’t quit when they got bored. They kept creating on a regular basis. Do the same.

Limiting beliefs and how to reframe them

Then there’s the usual thing you’ll want to work at when it comes to mindset: Limiting beliefs.

You’ll likely have some beliefs around online success and making money online. And you might not always be conscious about them. Actually, you won’t be conscious about most of them. That’s why it’s a journey to uncover them and reframe them one by one.

So how can you identify those limiting beliefs? Start listening to the way your body feels when you want to do something regarding your online business or project. Are you tense? Do you breathe deeply or flat? Do you procrastinate? Why is that?

Usually people don’t feel worthy of success or they don’t feel capable or deserving.

The first step is to acknowledge that. And then you can go about changing that.

My favourite way to get rid of limiting beliefs

There are a number of ways to get rid of your limiting beliefs, like inventing new, positive stories instead of the negative stories that you’re used to telling yourself. Or snapping your wrist with a rubber band when you notice that you’re thinking something negative.

That’s all good and well but there’s one strategy that I really think is crucial in the way it changes your limiting beliefs. And that is …

Think less, do more.

Sandro

That’s the number one strategy that’s helped me achieve anything I want. We tend to overthink all the time. What if this happens, what if I’m not good enough, I’m sure they won’t like this and that…

Stop it. Think less. Do more.

One person I respect once said „Get out of your head, go into action“ and I took a minute until I understood what that really means.

It means that you don’t have to overthink everything. Just do it, as Nike says. It’s really that simple.

I’ll give you an example:

You feel anxious and you don’t know what you should write about in your new blog post. You think that you’re not good enough to ever make it, you feel incapable and you’re sure that you’re not a good writer.

Now instead of keeping the wheel of limiting beliefs going, you just stop thinking and go do something instead. Like sit down and research a few new keywords you can write an article about. Or you just open your Notes app and just start writing about whatever comes to mind. If nothing comes to mind, just write the same word over and over that you thought of last. Believe me, at some point your mind will produce words, then sentences, then paragraphs and whole articles. Learn here why you need a lot of posts for a successful online business.

Really, instead of thinking about how to change your limiting beliefs and how to have the perfect mindset, just go be productive. Because nothing changes your mindset as much as going into action.

It doesn’t matter if your posts suck. It doesn’t matter if people like it or not. It matters that you do something instead of sitting around and think thoughts that serve neither you nor anyone else.

Conclusion

That’s it for today. If you learnt only one thing from reading this article then I hope it’s that you should be okay with thinking LESS sometimes. We’re so caught up in thinking all the time that we don’t really DO enough anymore. Just stop thinking when you notice that your thoughts are not serving you (and believe me, most of them aren’t) and just start writing or producing content in any other way you feel comfortable. Don’t be an over thinker, just do.

I completely agree with you! Mindset is the key for everything in life; that doesn’t mean that you can’t feel not okay. It’s okay not to feel okay, but if you’re on the right track regarding where your goals are met then you’ll get through your ongoing project. “Success is 20% Strategy and 80% Mindset” quite interesting statistic that is. The brain needs stimulation to fully function.

I 100% agree with you Stephanie! It’s okay not to feel okay, yet sometimes going into action actually makes me feel better about myself because I actually got something done 😊 Strategy is great to get better at what you’re doing. But if we focus too much on it before we actually start doing something at all, I found that we as creators often get lost in consuming more information instead of implementing what we learnt. Thanks for your comment!

Hey Sandro! Thank you for sharing. I can definitely relate.

I always like to say, “Once you change your mindset, you’ll change your life!” That’s what happened to me! I used to let a lot of limiting beliefs hold me back from reaching my potential, until i found online entrepreneurship and self development. Sometimes you just have to “Think Less, & Do More!” Thank you for the reminder!
